How much do routine doctor’s visits cost in Washington?

How much do routine doctor’s visits cost in Washington – and how they compare to neighboring states

In the patchwork of healthcare providers in the United States, figuring out what a doctor’s visit could cost can be confusing at best and life-altering at worst. The vast majority of patients who present to a hospital for a service recommended by their doctor do so without knowing the cost of the treatment. The cost of most medical visits is so high for the uninsured that a third of all money raised on GoFundMe is for health care expenses.

A slew of legislation in nearly every state aims to tackle some of these endemic problems, with the energy squarely aimed at reducing costs and expanding access. Some of this legislation is far reaching, especially in states like New York where lawmakers are looking to put a public option on the table for residents there. Other states are taking a narrower approach, requiring providers to publish price lists so patients know what their care will cost.

Stacker analyzed the cost data published on June 8, 2021, from the Medicare and Medicaid Service Centers, the common supplier data of Very good health, and indicate the postal codes of Single cards to find the average cost of three typical medical visits in every state.
